My Review

I’ve frequently heard is said that when it comes to this life we are either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or entering into one. Storms and trials are to be expected. Trials are one of the ways that God works in us to grow and shape us in Him. While they can often be painful and difficult, there is a reason God allows them. Sometimes (like with Jonah), the storms we face are from our own poor choices. Other times they come at no fault of our own. The question isn’t always why the storms come, but what God wants to do through us in them. Whether we’d like to admit it or not, we are fully dependent on our Heavenly Father. Like small children, we have times were we think we are independent and that we can live life on our own terms. God is there to teach us, remind us, correct us, and comfort us that we need his presence.

I thought this was an interesting book with a lot of excellent points. No one likes having to go through storms, but the presence of our Heavenly Father should be a comfort to us. Yes, we are dependent on Him, but he cares for us and and wants deep, meaningful fellowship with us. The storms may be difficult, but they serve a purpose for our own good. This is a book that I’m sure I’ll be thinking on for a long time.
