Happy Monday! The purpose of memorable Monday is to showcase a book that you’ve read in the past and share how/why it has stuck with you.
This week I’m featuring:
Utopia
By: Sir Thomas More
Amazon | Goodreads
If I’m being completely honest, Utopia was not an incredibly easy read, however I’m still glad that I read it. If you’ve ever seen the movie Ever After starring Drew Barrymore, you might recall the highest praise that this book is given throughout the film. Considering the fact that it’s my favorite movie, I knew I couldn’t go through life without reading this specific piece of literature. I admit I was amazed at the the amount of influence the book had on the movie, and also how much it was actually quoted. It’s a highly political book that essentially dreams up the “perfect” society. It’s one I’d recommend everyone read at some point in their lifetime.
About the book:
Utopia (Libellus vere aureus, nec minus salutaris quam festivus, de optimo rei publicae statu deque nova insula Utopia) is a satirical work of fiction and political philosophy by Thomas More (1478–1535) published in 1516 in Latin. The book is a frame narrative primarily depicting a fictional island society as described by the character Raphael Hythloday who lived there some years, who describes and its religious, social and political customs.

Loved that movie. And, I really like that you read this book. It’s not an easy read! 😊
Have you read it?
I’ve seen excerpts and read pieces. It wasn’t my cup of tea! I’m so impressed you read it. 😊
I understand completely. Honestly if it wasn’t made such a big deal of in my favorite movie I probably wouldn’t have read it lol
Reblogged this on The Mimosa Blossom.
Thank you! 🙂 I didn’t even realize you could do that lol
You’re welcome…lol
[…] may seem like an odd choice, but I’ll go with Utopia. Everyone has their own personal view on “the perfect world” […]
