his encouragement

Happy Thursday! I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize that the source of our peace, strength, and security in this life comes from Jesus, and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this posting blesses you and that you find strength and rest in the Lord today <3

This week is has greatly been on my heart to share a special message for those who may be hurting right now. Whether it’s yourself and/or a loved one going through something intensely painful, I want to encourage you today that the Lord knows of your pain, and He is here to comfort and strengthen you.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.
~Psalm 34:18

There are many things in this life that can be painful for us to bear. Whether it’s mourning the loss of a loved one, battling with addiction, dealing with crippling fear and anxiety, even just seeing what’s on the news at night, it doesn’t take long to see that there is a lot of painful situations we face in this life. Being a Christian doesn’t mean that we will never suffer from pain or a downcast spirit. As Christians we recognize our need for Christ in our life, and it’s more than just for salvation. Jesus is our very strength. Jesus himself suffered in this world, and he overcame it for us since we couldn’t do it ourselves. He himself experienced pain, and he himself understands our pain. He wants us to come to him and seek his comfort. We are also given fellowship with other believers so that we can uplift and encourage each other through times of heartache. At the end of the day we don’t have to suffer on our own.

I hope this verse encourages you today. I hope the knowledge of the Lord’s closeness comforts you to your soul. I know that when life gets painful it can be difficult to feel the Lord’s presence, but that doesn’t mean He isn’t there. I pray His comfort and peace over you today. I pray you can feel His presence in a real, tangible way.

Now, it’s your turn!

  1. Excellent verse choice. I definitely needed it today. I also love that you say we don’t need to go through the tough stuff alone. It’s totally true. We always have God, our fellow community of like-minded Christians, family, and friends. Great post today, Becca!
