his encouragement

Happy Thursday! I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize that the source of our peace, strength, and security in this life comes from Jesus, and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this posting blesses you and that you find strength and peace in the Lord today ❤

This week it’s on my heart to share:

Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.

~Psalm 62:8 (NIV)

I don’t know about you, but this verse is a promise I need to cling to this week. Life has it’s ups and downs, but praise God for He is forever unchanging. Nothing we go through comes as a surprise to Him. He wants us to cry out to Him and find refuge in Him.

A Google search for the word “refuge” brings up the definition “a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.” Do you consider God your refuge? Do you trust that you can run into His arms and be sheltered from trouble? We haven’t been promised to have a life without trouble. In fact, we are told to expect it instead. But we have a Heavenly Father who is bigger and stronger than anything we may go through in this life. He loves us with an everlasting love. As Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” God isn’t sitting up in the clouds eating popcorn while watching us suffer. He is actively present with us. He doesn’t leave us alone to figure it all out on our own.

If you feel like God is far from you today, I encourage you to meditate on the verses above. God loves His children and wants to be our refuge. He already knows what we are going through, but He still wants us to pour our hearts our to Him. Even if we may struggle to believe it sometimes, God is with us and never leaves us all alone. I hope you can cling to His promises today.

This week I’m ending with the worship song “Find you On My Knees” by Kari Jobe. I hope you take a moment to listen to it and meditate on the truth it reveals. Honestly, Kari Jobe is one of those worship singers I could listen to all day. Her songs hold so much truth in them and they really reach down deep into the heart. I hope you enjoy the song and have a blessed rest of the week <3

Now, it’s your turn!

  1. We’ve got a theme going this week!
    I love the idea that God is my refuge. He’s a place I can go to for rest and rejuvenation. It’s such a comfort to me!
