FLF

Happy Friday!

The book I’m featuring this week is:

between-2-shores

Amazon | Goodreads

Kahnawake, Quebec
August 1744
“I told you, I’m not staying,” Catherine Stands-Apart drew back from her sister’s touch and planted her feet wide at the edge of their mother’s grave.

Okay, so I am aware I’m a bit early sharing this one because it doesn’t release until February, but I am currently reading an ARC copy and I WILL be finishing this before I go to bed tonight. It’s soo good and I know I won’t  be able to sleep until I know how it all ends! While I read a lot of historical fiction, I very rarely have read books that take place during the French and Indian War. Despite not having a great knowledge base of the times, Jocelyn’s writing has brought history to life in a unique and captivating way. My full review will be shared closer to the release date (Feb 5, 2019), but until then enjoy the first line, and heed my request that you instantly pre-order your copy today!

About the Book:

The daughter of a Mohawk mother and French father in 1759 Montreal, Catherine Duval finds it is easier to remain neutral in a world that is tearing itself apart. Content to trade with both the French and the British, Catherine is pulled into the fray against her wishes when her British ex-
fiance, Samuel Crane, is taken prisoner by her father. Samuel asks her to help him escape, claiming he has information that could help end the war.

Peace appeals to Catherine, but helping the man who broke her heart does not. She delays . . . until attempts on Samuel’s life convince her he’s in mortal danger. Against her better judgment she helps him flee by river, using knowledge of the landscape to creep ever closer to freedom. Their time together rekindles feelings she thought long buried, and danger seems to hound their every mile. She’s risked becoming a traitor by choosing a side, but will the decision cost her even more than she anticipated?

I can’t wait to read that one! I love Jocelyn ‘s books.
I just finished reading The Carpenter’s Daughter by Jennifer Rodewald. The first line is: “I think it’s a woman. ” This was another great book by Jennifer Rodewald!

  2. Oh, I’m looking forward to reading this one!!
Happy Friday! Over on my blog I’m sharing the first line from My Heart Belongs in the Blue Ridge by Pepper Basham. Here I’ll share the first line from Chapter 13 of the same book.

“Laurel hadn’t left the house in three days. Neither had anyone else.”

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Happy Friday!🎄🎅

My first lines come from Lowcountry Bookshop by Susan M Boyer…….

The dead are prone to secrecy. Eighteen years ago, my best friend Colleen took the outbound train to the next world. She’s seen behind the curtain, knows the answers to a great many questions. But since she’s been back in her role as guardian spirit, she can’t share this information with me. It’s against the rules, that’s what she tells me.

Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!📚😊💕

I’m sharing the first line from Hope for Christmas by Elizabeth Maddrey on my blog today and I’m currently on chapter 7 so I’ll share the first line from that chapter here. “Cyan chuckled as Calvin made kissing noises to try and attract the attention of one of the horses.”

  5. I know it’s Saturday already, but this has been my first chance to comment. Yesterday, my husband and I had the privilege of attending our daughter’s commencement for her master’s degree and we hosted her graduation party at our house afterward. Now, for FLF, on my blog I featured a Love Inspired novel by Winnie Griggs, Once Upon a Texas Christmas. Since this is my current read, I will share the first line in Chapter 18: “Abigail escorted Seth and Jamie into the schoolroom as soon as she’d seen the last of the children leave.” Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
