Happy Friday!

The book I’m featuring this week is:

a-love-restored

Amazon | Goodreads

Loudoun County, Virginia
August 1873

Land sakes it was hot.

With temperatures in the 90’s the past few days, I understand the feeling! I recently discovered this book after a few of my other blogger friends posted their reviews, and I was able to win a signed copy that just arrived in the mail this week. I am anxious to read this one very soon!

About the Book:

With pert opinions and a less-than-perfect figure, Ruth Ann Sutton doesn’t measure up to Society’s vision of a perfect lady. When she accepts a position teaching in a Freedman’s School, it threatens the only marriage offer Ruth Ann is likely to receive. She’s forced to choose between life as a lonely spinster or reinventing herself to secure a respectable proposal.

Determined to rise above his meager beginnings, Benjamin Coulter’s reputation as a fast learner and hard worker earns him the opportunity to apprentice with a surveyor for the railroad—a position that will garner the respect he craves. After a chance encounter with Ruth Ann Sutton, Benjamin is smitten with her pretty face, quick wit, and feisty personality. When others ridicule his choice, will Benjamin listen to his heart or put ambition first?

About the Author:kelly-goshorn

Kelly Goshorn weaves her affinity for history and her passion for God into uplifting stories of love, faith and family set in nineteenth century America. Kelly earned a B.A. in Social Studies Education from Messiah College and a M.Ed. in History Education from The Pennsylvania State University. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Romance Writers of America.

Kelly has been enjoying her own happily-ever-after with her husband and best friend, Mike, for 28 years. Together they have raised three children, four cats, two dogs, a turtle, a guinea pig, a gecko, and countless hamsters. Thankfully, not all at the same time. When she is not writing, Kelly enjoys spending time with her young adult children, scrapbooking with friends, board gaming with her husband, and spoiling her Welsh corgi, Levi.

Now it’s your turn!

Happy Friday! My first line is from How to Make Victoria Sponge by Margaret Kazmierczak.

“Monday, six-fifteen in the morning and the alarm wakes me up for a new day.”

  2. So lucky to win a book that you were looking forward to reading. It sounds like a very good story.

My first line comes from Finding Love in Big Sky, by Angela Ruth Strong

PAISLEY SHERIDAN PINNED HER LAST help wanted flyer to the bulletin board between an advertisement for Breakfast with Santa and free ski passes to Military Appreciation Day.

  3. I have shared the first line of J.D. Robb’s newest release Leverage in Death. But here I’ll share the first line of the last chapter of the book I am currently reading. This is from Laura J. Burns and Melinda Metz forthcoming book I Do Not Trust You.

“The sky darkened. The air, then the ground, vibrated with a sound so low it was almost inaudible, like the sound the individual Set pieces made, only amplified a hundred times over. It invaded M’s entire body, hammering at her skull, the delicate bones of her ears, and every joint that connected her frame.”

I hope you enjoyed that. Happy Friday! 😀

  4. That definitely sounds like an interesting book and one I would enjoy. As far as hot weather, man have we been challenged with the heat here in Michigan, but yesterday and today it is simply lovely. I do believe I like Michigan better than I could ever enjoy Florida. On my blog, I’m featuring “Engaging the Competition” by Melissa Jagears. Hope you will stop by to check it out. Wishing you a great weekend!

  5. Great first line! It created immediate empathy. I’m featuring Michelle Griep’s new novella, A Tale of Two Hearts, on my blog today. Here is the second line:

“Closing her eyes, she savored the warmth and the first line to a new adventure, as was her wont whenever Miss Whymsy stopped by and lent her a book.”

    Happy Friday!

  6. Happy Friday!😎

My first lines come from a book I’m reading next, In Her Bones by Kate Moretti.

Your life is more open than you think. You think you’re safe. You have neighborhood watches and room -darkening drapes, password-protected computers, alarm systems, and garage codes that are absolutely not your firstborn’s birthday.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!😊💕
