Wondering Wednesday – Do You Have Any Pets?

Wondering Wednesday is a new weekly post started by my wonderful blogging friend Jessica over at A Baker’s Perspective. The idea is to give readers a chance to get to know the blogger behind all of the book reviews and other blog posts. I think this is a great idea and I’m glad to be a part of the fun 🙂

Question: Do you have any pets?

Why yes, yes I do! I have a cat named Sadie Jane and I’m her emotional support human 😉 I rescued her almost 5 years ago and at the time the vet estimated she was about a year old. She had a bite wound from another animal that had to be treated and she was already fixed but not chipped, and no one claimed her. Unfortunately she has some separation anxiety issues when I have the audacity to leave her home alone, but I make sure to give her extra “lovins” whenever I return. She loves to sit in my lap and snuggle. She also likes when I have the windows open and she can sit on the back of the couch and stare out. She loves playing in boxes and stealing my hair-ties. She has figured out how to open most of the doors in the house including the bathroom…okay particularly the bathroom haha. It’s usually only me that she does it to, but there have been a few occasions where she’s done it to others. She is super sweet and affectionate and is actually curious about visitors and has no fear walking up to them to ask for attention.

Although I don’t have any currently, I grew up with birds. Not the kind that sit around in a cage and get ignored, but the kind you allow out of the cage and to hang out on your shoulder. I’ve had parakeets, cockatiels, a cockatoo (for only a few weeks until my parents made me give her back because of aggression towards my dad), and an African grey.

I loved reading about Sadie! I’m always a fan of when authors share about their pets, too. 🙂

We have a 15 year old chihuahua named Snickerdoodle. He’s on insulin twice a day, very hard of hearing and can’t see well at all, but he’s still our little furbaby and the apple of our eye.

He was named Snickerdoodle because when we got him we were still clowning. My clown name was Cook E. Lady so naturally he had to have a cookie name.

  3. 1. Birds and I do not mesh. I actually love to look at birds and hear their songs. I also love how majestic they look in flight (even the tiny ones). But ever since I saw a bird poop on my friend’s head in elementary school, I just don’t trust their movements. And we have some mean little blackbirds in our neighborhood that like to attack our heads.

    2. Your cat is gorgeous! 🥰

    • Haha I know that there are many people who are not fans of birds. I have been pooped on many of times in my life by them bc it’s one of the downfalls of carting them around lol. BUT there is also a big difference between pets and outside birds. I remember getting pooped on by a seagull while walking into a grocery store and it felt traumatic lol

      • Yes – it’s such an added benefit! Though my hens are getting a little older now so I don’t get quite as many eggs as I used to! (One of my girls is around 5 years old now)

      • My in-laws had chickens and just got rid of them before winter last year. They would only keep them a few years and then give them away to start fresh with new ones once the old ones slowed production

  4. My fiance gave me a Bichon dog and I named her Juneau Alaska after where I met my fiance. She is a wonderful pet and I would not trade her for anything. Thanks for the post and what a beautiful cat.
