My Review:

Wow, talk about an unexpected gem of a read! I happened to come across this one on a ChristianBook clearance sale and snagged a copy because it looked like it might be an interesting read. Boy, was it ever! Forget how many pages long this one was, I didn’t want to put it down at all! Don’t ask me why it took me a while after I was into it before looking into the name thing and discovering that this was based on the love story of the author’s parents, but it only managed to captivate me even more. I’m not normally one for epistolary stories, however this one was prose with letters attached at the end of chapters and it didn’t bother me at all. Whirlwind, fast-paced romance would normally also cause an eyeroll from me, but knowing the reality and times that this romance occurred, along with the fact that it was what truly happened, I was okay with that as well. My heart rate raced and slowed with the action and drama as life overseas played out for Helen and Frank, and I wasn’t ready to let them go once I closed the back cover. This was such an amazing read and left me in a book fog I’m still in the process of recuperating from. This one DEFINITELY gets my high recommendation!
