About the Author:

Singer/Songwriter Ellie Holcomb, a Nashville native, began her musical career by touring the country with her husband in Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors. After eight years, and with the birth of their daughter, Ellie opted to step out of the role of heavy touring. From that space came her debut solo album, As Sure As the Sun, which charted at #1 on the iTunes Christian chart and helped deem Holcomb the “Best New Artist” at the 2014 Dove Awards. Since then, Holcomb has been walking an unexpected path, one of suffering and loss but also peace and joy. She has come to the edge of the rushing river of confusion and experienced a God who made a way where there seemed to be no way. And it is from that place—of finding God in the dark and unexpected—that Holcomb wrote and recorded Red Sea Road, released in January 2017.

My Review:

The first thing I fell in love with is the BEAUTIFUL illustrations in this book. They were the perfect mix of reality and imagination to capture the minds of little ones. It was like today’s world meets the garden of Eden. I thought the story was highly engaging and thought-provoking. The little ones I read it too all really enjoyed it and wanted to keep looking at it even after I finished the story. I liked how the story asked questions to get the little minds thinking and made them feel like a part of the story. It made the story more interactive and fun. This is one I’m very glad to have added to my home library!

Tiny Tot Review:

I read this to both my little neighbor (Addy, 3) and my Twin niece & nephew (Jacob & Olivia, 4) who all loved the story as well. They each liked to follow the little music notes that flowed across the pages and Jacob liked making up a special little tune for each page. The story was highly engaging for them and easily held their attention. I think Addy was more engaged in the story while the twins were more interested in the pictures, but that wasn’t surprising to me considering how much Addy loves books. The level of engagement kids have towards a story is often dependent on both their attention span and their general interest in books. Either way, this story certainly received two thumbs up from each of the littles I read to.
