ABOUT THE BOOK
Title: Where Wild Roses Bloom
Series: Heart of a Mountie #1
Author: Angela K. Couch
Publisher: Smitten Historical Romance
Release Date: March 15, 2022
Genre: Historical Romance, Christian
When Lenora Perry’s dream of becoming an acclaimed singer dies a painful death, she attempts to escape her mistakes by fleeing north—directly into the path of an all-too-dashing Mountie. Though the man in scarlet appears eager to be rid of her, his home provides security, and his sister offers friendship—two things Lenora is desperate for after discovering her pregnancy. With the past dogging her footsteps and her future uncertain, dare she consider new dreams?
Upholding the law makes up the fabric of Constable Edmond Bryce’s existence. As his five years of service draw to an end, he must decide whether or not to continue in his father’s footsteps—an increasingly difficult decision now that Miss Perry has infiltrated his life. Though she’s the daughter of a parson and a close friend to his sister, Edmond can’t push aside the feeling that Lenora hides more than she tells. But duty calls, leaving little time for matters of the heart.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
To keep from freezing in the Great White North, Angela K. Couch cuddles under quilts with her laptop. Winning short story contests, being a semi-finalist in ACFW’s Genesis Contest, and a finalist in the International Digital Awards also helped warm her up. As a passionate believer in Christ, her faith permeates the stories she tells. Her martial arts training, experience with horses, and appreciation for good romance sneak in there, as well. When not writing, she stays fit (and warm) by chasing after five munchkins.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW
- When you’re not writing, what else can you be found doing for fun?
I quite enjoy reading under my apple trees (when it’s not freezing out there), skating (while it is freezing out there), and pretty much anything out in the yard when the weather turns nice (I quite enjoy gardening and landscaping.)
- Do you have a favorite drink and/or snack of choice while writing?
I love a nice, rich herbal tea mix with a little dark chocolate to nibble on.
- Does music play a major role in your life as it’s part of Lenora’s?
I actually do love to sing and maybe at one point when I was younger, considered entering the Canadian version of American Idol. Now, I am quite happy signing lullabies and Disney hits to my kids.
- What was your inspiration for this story?
When Calls the Heart has always been one of my favorite Janette Oke books, and it’s strange to me that there aren’t more stories featuring lawmen in red. I felt the urge to remedy that.
- If you could spend a day as any character from this story, who would it be and why?
Probably Melina, Edmond’s sister. I think I could fit in her life pretty easily. I’m working on her story right now and look forward to sharing more of her soon.
- Who was the most challenging character for you to create? Easiest?
Edmond was probably the hardest. I enjoy getting inside the minds of my male characters but acknowledge that they do think differently than me. His sister was the easiest. She might be a little more like me than I’ll admit.
- What’s something you hope readers will take away from your writing?
I hope readers will think to include God when they make plan. He has some great ones already laid out for each of us.
