Review:
Wow! Another great read by Sara Ella! El is now the newest vessel of the Verity, and Ky and Joshua are both vessels of the Void that has been split between them. The battle of Verity and Void (good vs evil) is felt tangibly from cover to cover.
It is not easy to write about this book without giving away any spoilers! It’s one that you need to read and let the pages fill you in as you move through. I greatly enjoyed the story and can’t wait to start reading the final book in the series. I do hope that at the end of it all the author shares about her ideas behind connecting the fantasy reflections with the real world we live in. Always looking for an allegory, I find myself reading with that very mindset. I have ideas swirling in my mind as to how it all connects, but I’m very well aware that the dots won’t all connect until I finish the series. (How Narnian 😉 )
One thing I really like about the books so far, is that it could appeal to both believers and nonbelievers which could strike up a converstation. Fantasy is a very popular genre among the youth right now. As with Narnia, God’s name isn’t mentioned (at least so far), but you can see a picture of Him painted in the Verity. We all have a very real battle of good vs evil raging within us. We have to daily choose to live right and not give in to temptation. Yet we aren’t battling alone either, we have the very real strength of the Lord to help us. This story takes some of the invisible pieces of the battle and makes them visible. It’s very tastefully done, and I honestly can’t wait to see how the series ends.
As with the first book, I think my biggest complaint comes down to some of the language. The actual language is clean, but there is what I’d call “intentional” cursing found throughout. Examples are “What in the reflections is that?” and “What the bleep took you so long?” I understand it may appeal to teenagers, but I would prefer it didn’t exist.
Fantasy is not normally one of my preferred genres, but I am loving this series and highly recommend it! Can’t wait to start reading the third and final book in the series! 🙂

Age Appropriateness: This series is intentionally written for teens and young adults. Having said that, I don’t think I would recommend it to anyone who is younger than a teen. Personally I wouldn’t recommend under 14 but I’d be more particular with their maturity level.
I am in love with this series! Shared it with my daughter too, who is in the midst of devouring book one. Can’t wait to dig into book three!!
