My Review:
Wow I am amazed at how much this one truly sucked me in. The bond that was shared between Elsa and Hattie was truly something special and how it grew and developed as the times darkened was something powerful to witness. Despite the fact that I wanted to keep turning pages to find out what happened, I didn’t speed through this one either. There was a lot to take in and a lot to process and think about. Not in a confusing sense but more of a contemplation. One of the big things Elsa and Hattie both struggle with is the knowledge that they can’t save everyone. And often it’s a struggle to be positive thinking about the lives they’ve been able to save when there’s so many they couldn’t. All while placing themselves deeper and deeper into the danger of being caught at their schemes. While there was plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat, the emotional charge drew you so close to the characters that you can barely come up for air. Prepare for the book fog y’all. That’s now my current state. I have so many thoughts and feelings and not sure I can do them all justice at the moment. But this was one incredible read and I’m so glad I picked it up. HIGHLY recommend!
