Title: The Judgment
Author: Beverly Lewis
Series: Rose Trilogy book 2
Genre: Christian Fiction

About the Book:
“Rose Kauffman is engaged to Silas Good, a well-liked Amish fellow, so why does she still pine for Nick Franco, the former foster son of the bishop? Especially now that Nick has left the Amish community under a cloud of suspicion after the death of the bishop’s biological son? Will Rose marry Silas, even while struggling with romantic feelings for Nick?

Meanwhile, Rose’s older sister, Hen, has returned to live at her parents’ farm with her young daughter. Hen and her modern husband, Brandon, are separated by mutual agreement, although he is threatening to sue for custody of their daughter if Hen does not return soon. Will the judge rule in Brandon’s favor? Is there any way Hen can reestablish her place among the People without sacrificing her marriage?”

Review:
Just as with the first book in this series, The Judgment leaves you ready and wanting to immediately continue with the next book to see how the LORD works out each of the characters’ dilemmas. Maybe because a child was involved, but I felt more emotionally affected by Hen’s battles. Feeling remorse for leaving the community of her faith, she desperately seeks to come back into the fold so that her young daughter can be raised with solid Christian values. The absence of Nick as a main character in this book made me separate from Rose’s side of the story, but I am anxiously waiting to see what book 3 has in store for. Will Hen be able to save both her marriage and her family? Is there more to the relationship between Rose and Nick? Hopefully these answers and more can be found in book 3 (The Mercy). Stay tuned for the next review to see how the story continues!

Rating: 5-Stars-300x57

Age Appropriateness: As with the first book in this series, it’s a good, solid, clean Amish story that while written for adults, is also suitable for younger girls who enjoy reading. I would consider it a safe read for girls as young as 10-12 should they be interested.
