matthew_1000xDescription:

The Bible Beautiful. Visual imagery & thoughtful design integrated within the Gospel of Matthew. Recently funded on Kickstarter.

Goodness and truth are two values often used to describe the character of God. In addition, Christian theologians have long described beauty as a third inseparable reality which together with goodness and truth, paint a full picture of who God is.

Alabaster aims to give the reader a fresh visual experience and heightened level of contemplation while reading this ancient text, that ultimately points to the beauty of God.

Features Include:

  • 15lb cover paper (matted) for covers of each Gospel
  • 80lb text paper (unmatted) for insides of each Gospel
  • 7.5″ x 9.5″, Perfect binding

My Review:

I loved the original concept for this book but I have to sadly admit that I was underwhelmed with the final product. Some of the images are stunning and relevant, but I would say the majority appear like random stock images.

The book itself is made of a higher quality cardstock and has a smooth and sleek design. Inside is the full text of the book of Matthew in the NLT translation in a layout similar to a magazine article with images woven throughout. The font is a little on the small side but is a comfortable print to read. The chapters are divided more similarly to a regular book instead of how they are in a Bible in that each starts on a new page. Verse numbers are still included as well.

As I already said, if more relevant images were selected I would be giving this book a much higher praise. My complaint is with the content and not the layout. I think it was a really neat idea to create something like this and would love to see it improved upon.

*I received a copy of this book through FrontGate Media. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.
