There are so many books that I’ve read that have impacted me on a deep, heartfelt level. There are many that have popped into my mind, but scrolling through my “read” list I felt the need to go with Safely Home by Randy Alcorn. When I was in high school I fell in love with Randy Alcorn’s writing and confess I wish he would still come out with more fiction. His writing both fiction and non-fiction has left a mark on me.

Although times are changing and Christianity is under attack in my country (United States), I can also say that I grew up in a place where I could say I was a Christian without having to face persecution. I have not had to fear death or imprisonment for proclaiming Christ. In Safely Home, two men who met in college (United States), but meet up years later in China. The American man has slowly walked away from his faith, while the Chinese man has a deep, unwavering faith despite it being illegal in his country. This story has stuck with me and comes to my mind often when I consider what it really means to face persecution and to stand for Christ even when it could cost my life. It has both convicted and encouraged me. Jesus needs to be shared with the world regardless of the fear we may have in persecution. If you haven’t read this book yet I simply cannot recommend it enough. Seriously… go get it and read it!
