This week I’m featuring:

Edge of Eternity

Generally speaking I tend to stay away from books that are considered “fantasies” but this one is an exception. The book was published in 1999 and I read it about 4 years after. What sets it apart from other fantasies is that it is really from a Biblical perspective. Imagine if the spiritual realm was no longer invisible. Imagine being able to see the real battle between good and evil right before your eyes. The battle, along with Christ’s life and mission is displayed in an allegory. This is easily one of the most memorable books I’ve ever read. I recommend giving it a chance even if it doesn’t seem like one of the books you’d normally enjoy. It really gets your mind working and considering the realities of what the battle of good and evil is really about. Randy Alcorn is a Christian author with a deep, solid grasp of theology, so it’s refreshing to see a story like this written from such a Biblically-minded believer.

About the Book:
Imagine Being Pulled Into the Hereafter. While You’re Still Alive.
A disillusioned business executive whose life has hit a dead-end, Nick Seagrave has lost loved ones to tragedy and his family to neglect. Now, at a point of great crisis, he unbelievably and inexplicably finds himself transported to what appears to be another world.

Suddenly he’s confronted with profoundly clear views of his own past and personality. At the same time, he’s enabled to see, hear, taste, and smell the realities of both heaven and hell–realities that force him to face dangers and trials far greater than any he’s known before.

Pitted against flying beasts, a monstrous web that threatens to hold him captive, an evil, brooding intelligence, and undeniable evidence of a spiritual world, Nick must finally consider the God he claims not to believe in.

Walking between two worlds, Nick Seagrave prepares to make decisions that will change his life forever, as he stands on the Edge of Eternity.

“My ministry focus is communicating the strategic importance of using our earthly time, money, possessions and opportunities to invest in need-meeting ministries that count for eternity,” Alcorn says. “I do that by trying to analyze, teach and apply the implications of Christian truth.”

He has ministered in many countries, including China, and is a popular teacher and conference speaker. I didn’t realize Randy Alcorn wrote any fiction. I’ve had my eye on a non-fiction book of his for a while.

The first Christian fiction book I remember reading was Secrets by Robin Jones Gunn and I’m sharing about it over on my blog today.

I hope you have a great day!

    • Yes! I was introduced to him through his fiction stories, and I wish he still wrote them! His book Safely Home was the first of his I read (and HIGHLY recommend). I’ve also read his Ollie Chandler series that starts with Deadline. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your book as well! 🙂
