‘Tis the season for… winter blues?

Yes, it’s a real thing, and yes, I deal with them. Admittedly this year is already hitting me hard but I’m trying hard to fight it. If it’s something you deal with too I hope something in this today helps you.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Phil 4:8

On top of making changes physically (like exercising and taking vitamins), we need to be paying attention to our thinking. When the winter blues hit it’s easy to fall prey to all kinds of negative thoughts. Don’t give in. Don’t give Satan the stronghold. Take every thought captive. We may not be able to control every thought that comes into our minds, but we have a choice with what to do with it. Fill your mind with God’s Word and His encouragement. Pray without ceasing. Call on the Lord and ask Him for help. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Here’s the thing. Satan is a stupidface. He knows right where to attack us and when. The more we give in to his lies, the lower he’ll take us. But even when we feel the darkness around us, God is still light and He’s still our rock. Look to Him for your daily strength. I’m thankful that even through my night seasons God is with me. It’s important to fight Satan’s lies with God’s Truth. Fill your mind with things of God instead of the things of this world. Also don’t feel like you have to fight it alone. God gave us each other for a reason. It’s important to have fellowship and support with other believers around us <3

Thanks for sharing. This is one of my favorite verses, though I don’t always do a great job of following it. I love Lauren’s song, too.

I’m sharing Isaiah 26:3-4 on my blog.

  2. Satan is a stupidface!
I love this verse. I’m a person who could go negative super fast, so I remind myself of this verse often. God wants me to focus on the good!!!
