His Encouragement #67

Happy Thursday!

I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize our daily need for Christ and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this post blesses you and that you find comfort, strength, and peace in the Lord today ❤

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. ² And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. ³ And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. ⁴ He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

⁵ And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” ⁶ And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. ⁷ The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. ⁸ But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Revelation 21:1-7

This past week or so I’ve seen several people I know share that they have had a loved one pass away. On Friday of last week a friend from my home church was one of those losses. Yet while it is surely painful to release a loved one into eternity, as long as we are believers we can look to God’s Word and find comfort within the pages that we will one day be reunited in heaven. This world itself will pass away and a new heaven and a new earth will be formed where there will be no more tears, death, sickness, pain, sin, etc. Regardless of our current situations and struggles we have a bright future to look forward to.

There is something about death that makes people contemplate eternity. Don’t waste it. Share Jesus with anyone and everyone. It’s literally a life or death decision. Because while as believers we have eternity with the Father to look forward to, there is a second death resulting in eternal misery that you wouldn’t wish on even your worst enemy. It forever changes how you look at people and your heart towards them. Take every opportunity you can to breath life into others through the truth of the Gospel.

If you’ve lost a loved one recently my thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you are comforted with an eternal perspective. When we change our thinking from the temporal to the eternal, it changes everything. Let’s walk in that and let it shape us into the children of God we are already called to be <3
