Happy Thursday!

I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize our daily need for Christ and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this post blesses you and that you find comfort, strength, and peace in the Lord today ❤

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

~2 Cor 5:17

Even with the understanding that you are forgiven in Christ for the sins of your past, do you ever struggle to fully receive that forgiveness? Do you still see yourself in the reflection of your sin or are you able to see the new creation that you are in Christ?

22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

~Eph 4:22-24

It’s not to say that we will never sin again after coming to a saving faith in Jesus, but it should change how we live. But by taking off the old self and putting on the new, we also need to recognize that the old is no longer who we are. Our identity is now found in Christ.

When I sit and meditate deeply on these verses, they truly bring a deep sense of peace to me. They are verses I need to remind myself of more often to be honest. I am a new creation in Christ <3 Remind yourself too! Write it down, meditate on it, study it. Cling to the truth in Christ and let go of the lies of your past. If you are a believer, God no longer sees your sin when he looks at you, but the righteousness received only through Jesus.

Now, it’s your turn!

What Biblical verse is encouraging you today?

  1. Oh what a great post! It is so hard for me to fathom God’s grace for my past. Often times little things will come up and I’ll have to remind myself that I am not that person anymore. Thanks for this wonderful reminder 🙂
