His Encouragement #41

Happy Thursday! I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize our daily need for Christ and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this post blesses you and that you find comfort, strength, and peace in the Lord today ❤

This week it’s on my heart to share:

He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.

~Psalm 62:6

This is a verse that is a good reminder to think about in times of temptation and trials. When facing them it’s important to keep your eyes fixed on God instead of whatever situation is before you. Yes, we are human and will fail at times, but the longer we are believers in Christ and our Heavenly Father, and the more we learn and grow in Him, the better equipped we are to face whatever lies ahead.

This happens to be another one of those weeks where my inspiration came from a song. Have you ever heard the song “I Will Not Be Moved” by Natalie Grant? It’s an older song, but it’s one that I often find stuck in my head. Do you ever find that you seem to beat yourself up over your failures? There is a difference between entering a situation with the mindset of “I’ll screw up anyways so I might as well just get it over with and apologize after,” and “I know I will stumble and have moments of failure, but I stand on Christ the solid rock and will not be moved. He is my strength and my fortress. I will get back up, and keep my eyes fixed on Him.” Don’t beat yourself up, but also don’t get complacent with sin. Look up to your Heavenly Father for direction and guidance in life.

It’s important too, to take note of the fact that the Bible says “He only is my rock…” Do you ever find yourself looking to other people or things instead of God in times of trouble? I’m not saying that you can’t find help in others, but it’s important to make sure that you are seeking God first, and that you are also seeking godly counsel if you do. As John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” We may live in a world that often teaches that there are “many ways to heaven,” but the truth of the matter is that Jesus is the only way. Jesus is the only path to salvation. If the God of the Bible is not your rock, then you are on sinking sand no matter who or where you are.
