His Encouragement #4

his encouragementHappy Thursday 🙂 A few fellow bloggers and myself have come together to share a bit of encouragement from God’s word each Thursday. And lets face it, by the time we hit that time of the week we can all use a little bit of encouragement. I hope that His words touch your heart and feel like a hug from your Heavenly Father 🙂

Today I am sharing:

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
~Romans 8:38-39

I highly recommend reading the whole chapter of Romans 8, but today I’m focusing on the last two verses. Do you ever feel like God is far away? Like His love is out of reach? Like you are on your own on an island? Romans 8 is a good chapter to pick you up, dust you off, and give you a strong dose of encouragement that the Lord is always near to His children. Verse 26 says “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Despite the fact that we can’t see and talk to God face-to-face in this life, it doesn’t mean He is far from us. He knows what we are going through before we even talk to Him. It doesn’t mean we shouldn’t talk to Him, but that He does know, and He does hear. But we don’t always know what we actually need either. Sometimes in life we walk through difficult situations that we don’t have the answers for. In those instances, God wants us to lean on Him and get our strength from Him. It’s comforting to know that God is outside of time, and that nothing comes as a surprise to Him. He already knows the outcome of our entire lives, yet he walks with us step-by-step through our journeys. I don’t know about you, but these two verses bring me great comfort. I know that the Lord won’t abandon me, and even when I struggle or don’t feel His presence as much as I’d like, I can rest in the promise that He is near.

Don’t let the world convince you that God is not near and that He doesn’t love you. Don’t let the lies of Satan taint your view of your Heavenly Father. Draw near to Him by reading your Bible and praying daily. Be in fellowship with other believers. Know that whatever you are going through, God loves you and won’t depart from you. Let this verse be your teddy bear comfort, to know that the Father hears your cries and you are not alone. I pray for his comfort over your heart today.
