his encouragement

Happy Thursday! I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize that the source of our peace, strength, and security in this life comes from Jesus, and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this posting blesses you and that you find strength and peace in the Lord today ❤

This week it’s on my heart to share:

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

~Romans 8:26 (NIV)

OK, just being real right now… as I sit in my big comfy chair with a blanket and my laptop on my lap and a kleenex for my bloody nose and a humidifier right beside me—I’m a mess right now. Gotta love cold season. But in all seriousness, as I’m sitting and trying to think about what to write about this week, my mind went several places without being able to focus on a single one. So when I started to think about not knowing what to say, Romans 8:26 came to my mind. While not exactly my circumstances, I’m going with the inspiration.

Have you ever been in a situation where you literally had no idea what to do or where to go or even how to think about it? Have you ever questioned if you should pray for either a “yes” or a “no” or even a “later?” Or even a “stay” or “go?” Have you ever questioned if you should really want something or if it would be bad for you? Have you ever just wanted to throw your hands up in the air and say “God, can you please just sort this all out for me?” Or as Carrie Underwood would sing: “Jesus take the wheel!” When we don’t know what to say or do– God knows. God just asks us to pray, and when we don’t know the right words to share, His Spirit will intercede for us.

And since I mentioned it above, I’ll end with “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. It’s not exactly a worship song but the chorus especially is still fitting. Whatever you may be going through right now, give it to God and allow Him to guide you in the right direction. Let go of the wheel and let God take you where you need to go. I hope you have a blessed rest of the week!

Now, it’s your turn!

  1. Oh yes! Many times! I’ve prayed and just said, “Lord, help! I don’t even know what else to say, but you know.” I’m so thankful that God knows our hearts! He hears our groanings, and they make sense to Him! He holds the world in His hands, yet bends down to hear our whispers and catch our tears! What an Amazing God we serve!

  2. What a great verse from Romans! Such a great reminder that God knows our hearts, even when we can’t find the words. Also- I love that song by Carrrie Underwood. Thanks for sharing!
