his encouragement

Happy Thursday! I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize that the source of our peace, strength, and security in this life comes from Jesus, and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this posting blesses you and that you find strength and peace in the Lord today ❤

This week it’s on my heart to share:

“…He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

John 8:44

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?[c] And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

Matt 10:29-30

I won’t lie, this week is another one that the passage I chose was in reference to a song on my mind. A phrase one of my best friends says often is “Satan is a stupidface.” Why? Because he knows how to get to us. He knows just the right lies to tell us to cripple us and make us feel defeated. If we don’t look to Christ and what the Bible tells us about who we are and how God loves us, then we give Satan the foothold he wants to put us in bondage.

I remember back when I was in high school, one of my youth leaders told us that if you hear something seven times, it becomes a permanent memory in your mind. I know that they were talking about song lyrics, but the statement can really make you think about a lot of things. Going back to elementary school, I had a lot of lies thrown my direction from bullies. How many times did I heard their mean words repeated? Let’s just say I don’t even have to try to remember. As adults there are other lies we are attacked with. The world (both inside and outside of church) has different ways of telling us how our homes should be run or what types of jobs we should have (or not have) or what type of foods to eat (or not eat) or how we should dress or shop or spend money. You can face judgement for having too many kids or struggling with infertility. Whatever battles you face in this life, Satan has ways of attacking you to your core.

So instead of allowing yourself to listen to those lies, speak truth. The truth is found in God’s Word. You are beautiful in God’s eyes. You are a work of His creation. You have been bought with a price and are a precious Child of God. Your body is a temple. You are loved. You are worth Christ’s death on a cross. When you start to hear Satan’s lies in your head, take those thoughts captive and replace them with God’s truth. It’s a battle, but God is the victor and we are His.

I hope you are encouraged by this today. If you need someone to talk to or need help finding scriptures to fight against the lies Satan has been speaking to you, feel free to use my contact page to message me at anytime. God has given us fellowship with other believers and we can help lift each other up in times of need.

The song that I was speaking of when I started this is “You Say” by Lauren Daigle. It’s new and I’ve heard it on the radio and shared on social media often. I believe it speaks to the heart of our feelings of unworthiness and unforgiveness towards ourselves. I hope you take a minute to listen to is this morning and hope that it is able to encourage you.

Now, it’s your turn!

What Biblical verse is encouraging you today?

  1. Powerful message today, Becca. Thank you. It can be easy to give in to the lies of Satan, which is way we need to be vigilant against the lies. I am reminded of 1 Peter 5:6-8. “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith…”

Beautiful song, too. I have never heard it.
