his encouragement

Happy Thursday! I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize that the source of our peace, strength, and security in this life comes from Jesus, and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this posting blesses you and that you find strength and peace in the Lord today ❤

This week it’s on my heart to share:

121 I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

~Psalm 121

The reason I chose the passage I did to share this week is actually because I’ve had the song “I Lift My Eyes Up” in my head for most of this morning. I love when a worship song contains scripture that makes it easier to memorize and can cause your heart to meditate on God’s truth throughout your day. Worship music is for more than in church on Sunday morning. Worship music can help you get through your week and keep your focus on the Lord.

The simple message that “my help comes from the Lord” is like medicine for the soul. You may struggle to feel it sometimes, but God’s Word doesn’t change, and neither does He. The Lord is always near and He is our ever-present help. The help may not come in the form we are hoping for or expect, but the Lord is in control and hears our cries. Our help may not be to “fix” whatever situation we are in, but to simply give us the strength to endure. We are not alone. The Lord, creator of the universe, loves us intimately and knows our hearts. He knows our pain, our struggles, our highs and our lows.

While our situations may cause us to feel a difference in the Lord’s presence, He is always near despite what we go through. It’s a comfort to know that He doesn’t leave us on our own. As verse 3 says, He doesn’t slumber or sleep. He is always alert. Have you ever stayed up for longer than you thought humanly possible? Did it make you feel tired and weary? We are weak. We aren’t capable of going without rest. But our Heavenly Father is always alert and always there to hear us. There is nothing that can happen that He isn’t aware of. His strength is bigger than we can even begin to comprehend. It’s a comfort to know that when my strength fails me, the Lord is there to help.

This week I’m closing with the worship song “I Lift My Eyes Up.” Considering it was my inspiration for this week’s message I hope you will take a moment to listen and meditate on it. God bless.

Now, it’s your turn!

  1. “You may struggle to feel it sometimes, but God’s Word doesn’t change, and neither does He. The Lord is always near and He is our ever-present help.” Amen! Thank you so much for this very timely word of encouragement. This passage of Scripture was exactly what I needed this morning. God bless! <3
