His Encouragement #13

Happy Thursday! I am blessed to be a part of a group of bloggers who feel led to share a bit of encouragement each week from the Bible. We recognize that the source of our peace, strength, and security in this life comes from Jesus, and we aim to share that with our readers. Plus, when Thursday comes around, we can all use a little encouragement right? I hope that this posting blesses you and that you find strength and peace in the Lord today ❤

This week I’m sharing:

 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:17

There are so many things in this life that can take our eyes away from the Lord. We look to others to find our beauty, value, success, and so much more instead of looking to the Lord as we should. We have TV and movies magazines and social media that tell us who we should be and what we should want out of this life. We should be actively seeking God through His Word and placing value on eternal things instead. Psalm 16:8 (NIV) says: “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” How do we resist the temptations of the things of this world? We keep our eyes on the Father above!

Not only are we to look to God to find the value of things, but also the size of things. Ever look at a mountain in your life and feel you can’t climb it on your own? God is SO much bigger than any mountain we could ever face. If we look to Him, He will guide our steps and give us the strength we don’t have on our own. I don’t mean this as a “health and wealth” statement but as a truth that even though we will face hard times in our life, God will be our strength to endure.

Whatever you’re going through, or whatever you’re facing, I encourage you to fix your eyes on the Lord. Seek Him and learn His ways and truths. I’m ending this week with the worship song I Will Lift My Eyes by Bebo Norman. I hope it blesses you today <3
