But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

~Rom 5:8

I have been going to church for many years. I recognize that it is in Christ alone, through faith alone that I can have a relationship with my Heavenly Father. Yet even though I know that, I can fall into this trap of believing that there are things I can do to make God love me more or to make me more deserving of His love. The truth is there is nothing I can do. I am saved through Jesus’ perfection and not my own.

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

~Mark 2:17

In order for us to see our need for God we have to recognize that we are sick. We all need Jesus. There is no one who is outside of this need. But in order for us to come to Christ, we have to see that need. It’s not that there is anyone truly “healthy” without Jesus, but until people’s eyes are opened to their sickness, they aren’t able to recognize how desperately they need him.

Easter weekend is a time where people are more willing to dress up and go to church even if they aren’t believers simply because it’s “the thing to do.” But why not start a conversation? If you see someone new walk into your church today, talk to them! Share Jesus with them! Plant the seeds and pray the Lord will water them!

My prayer for you this Easter/Resurrection Sunday is that you focus on what Christ has done for you and seek to help others see that for themselves. No matter how good or bad a person feels about themselves, they still need Jesus. We all have a sickness called sin that has only one cure- and that’s Jesus Christ, our Savior. That doesn’t mean we will never sin again, but it means that Christ’s perfect righteousness will cover us. He is the propitiation for our sins. He has done for us what we physically cannot do for ourselves. He has purchased us with his blood. He is the only way to our Heavenly Father.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

~John 14:6

Focus on Jesus today. Thank him for his sacrifice and love for us. Don’t just keep it to yourself though, share that love with others! <3

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

~John 3:16
