Title: Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish

Author: Bethany Turner

Genre: Rom-Com

Publishing Date: May 5, 2020

Publisher: Revell

Length: 352 Pages

About the Book:

Celebrity chef Maxwell Cavanaugh is known for many things: his multiple Michelin stars, his top-rated Culinary Channel show To the Max, and most of all his horrible temper. Hadley Beckett, host of the Culinary Channel’s other top-rated show, At Home with Hadley, is beloved for her Southern charm and for making her viewers feel like family.

When Max experiences a very public temper tantrum, he’s sent packing to get his life in order. When he returns, career in shambles, his only chance to get back on TV and in the public’s good graces is to work alongside Hadley.

As these polar-opposite celeb chefs begin to peel away the layers of public persona and reputation, they will not only discover the key ingredients for getting along, but also learn the secret recipe for unexpected forgiveness . . . and maybe even love. In the meantime, hide the knives.

Fan-favorite Bethany Turner serves up a heaping helping of humor and romance with this thoroughly modern story centered on cooking, enemies, and second chances.

My Review:

Confession: I have had MAJOR quarantine brain lately. I haven’t been reading much at all the past few weeks. Not that I didn’t like rom-com before, but it has become the only genre my brain seems to crave right now. I need the laugh but I still don’t want the fluff. This was a perfect find for me to escape into.

Oh my goodness, wonderful! Bethany Turner has outdone herself once again. when I first opened this one up, I thought that there was no way that I would be able to root for Max or have him grow on me. I’ve read the author before, and trusted that she’d find some way to make it happen, I just wasn’t sure how. I think that might have been the biggest driving force for me to keep going and see how it all unfolded. In my review for WooCam (Wooing Cadie McCaffrey), I stated that I  was pretty excited to see a cameo appearance of Payton Manning, so I honestly thought that one would remain my favorite forever (unless of course she managed to squeeze him in again haha). The further I got into this one though, the more I fell in love with Hadley and Max’s story.

Max. Where do I get started on Max? What I love about him the most is that he had some very real flaws and they didn’t change overnight for him once he met the girl. I liked that we were able to see parts of the story through his POV as well because we were able to find out what made him tick and understand his inner battles. And don’t we all have our own internal battles?

Hadley was the “Christian” character, but she wasn’t created perfect either. She was able to be viewed as “set apart” without being this icon of perfection we can so often expect. She put a lot of pressure on herself and fought harder on the inside than she revealed on the outside. Her character really got me thinking. She was refreshingly pure in the “real” department.

I honestly couldn’t talk this book up enough. I am so glad I read it and can’t wait to see what Bethany Turner comes up with next. Go get it y’all! (Um… or rather… go order online since we can’t go anywhere 😛 If you are able to shop local I HIGHLY recommend that. Support local as much as you can. If you don’t have one local, I have attached the link to MY local bookstore, along with Baker Book House which is another wonderful store  I’d recommend).

*I received a copy of this book from Revell publishers. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.
