first line friday

Happy Friday!

The book I’m featuring this week is:

deadly-deceit

Amazon | Goodreads

In the face of small-town news, all creativity left Vivian DeMarco.

Deadly Deceit is the sequel to Natalie Walter’s debut Living Lies. I’ve been impatiently waiting for this one every since I closed the cover of the first (click HERE for my full review). I just received an early copy in the mail which I’m super excited about, but it’s also releasing to the public very soon on Nov 5, 2019 and is currently available for pre-order 🙂 Can’t wait to dig in!

About the Book:

Independent and tenacious journalist Vivian DeMarco is back in Walton, Georgia, for one reason–to do her job and get out. When her boss suddenly dies under suspicious circumstances, Vivian’s only hope for finding the truth–and the next big story–is small-town law enforcement’s lanky poster boy, Deputy Ryan Frost. But the deeper they dig, the more twisted the truth becomes, and Vivian finds herself fighting for not only answers but also her life. False leads, incriminating emails, and someone called The Watcher force Vivian to confront the secret of her past and decide: How much is she willing to risk for the sake of a headline?

Author Natalie Walters welcomes you back to Walton, Georgia, where everyone knows your name–but no one knows your secret.

About the Author:Natalie Walters

My world revolves around GIJOE and our three adult (or almost adult) children who keep my life anything but predictable. Our boots hit the ground wherever the Army sends us but home is when we’re all together no matter the zipcode. My passion is writing stories where adventure meets love and share my belief that life rooted in purpose is a story worth telling.

Now it’s your turn!

  1. That first line makes me chuckle.

Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line of Marisol – Spanish Rose by Elva Cobb Martin, so here I’ll share one of my favorite lines from the same book:

Maybe he should be guarding his heart from her, protecting himself from another loss, but he’d already given too much of himself to her. His heart was no longer his to guard.

  2. Kay Garrett

Paige Cordell felt as if she had regressed back to the awkward, frizzy-haired bookworm who’d left Sage Creek, Texas, fourteen years ago. With no intention of every returning.

It was not the best hiding spot I had ever found, but it was, thankfully, proving quite effective.
SECRETS and SUITORS by Joanna Barker

My first lines are from Hope’s Highest Mountain by Misty Beller:
    My Darling Rachel,
You were everything to me. You still are. Don’t ever forget that.

  5. Ellie

On my blog I’m sharing the first line from Because of You by Becky Wade, however I finished it last night and am now reading Stitched in Time by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I’ll share the first line of that book here. “It took a lot to shock Luke Schrock.”

Happy Friday! My first line is from Wyatt: The Montana Marshalls” by Susan May Warren:

“Usually Wyatt, goalie for the Minnesota Blue Ox NHL team, could shrug off his mistakes.”

  7. A fun opening line! It sounds like a great read 🙂 Happy Saturday! I’m sharing on my blog the first line from Grace in the Shadows by Christine Dillon.

It was love at first sight.

  8. Happy Saturday!

Yesterday on my blog I shared the first line from The Painted Castle by Kristy Cambron: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/10/17/first-line-friday-106/. I’m currently reading Always Look Twice by Elizabeth Goddard, so I’ll share a line from that book.

“For some reason he would never understand, Heath always ended up assisting someone in the direst of circumstances.”

    Hope you’re having a good weekend! 🙂❤📖
