first line friday

Happy Friday!

This week I’m featuring:

Vigilant (The Night Guardians, #1)

Amazon | Goodreads

Luke’s eyes widened at the sight of the knife.

I happen to have just finished my last read (Living Lies by Natalie Walters), and this is the next one on my list for me to open up. The back cover already has me hooked so I can’t wait to open this one up and start reading!

About the Book:

She must choose between the man who represents the law and the one who may have taken it into his own hands. Neglected by her parents for most of her life, Nicole Hunter keeps everyone, especially men, at arms’ length. So when Attorney Gage Kelly walks into the diner where she is waiting tables one evening, she fights her attraction to him with everything she has.

Gage and his brother Holden grew up in an abusive home, and Gage has baggage of his own. But the connection between him and Nicole is too strong to ignore, and Gage manages to convince them both that their relationship is worth the risk. Then children begin disappearing in the night.

When Detective Daniel Grey starts to close in on the child snatcher, and enlists Nicole’s help, she faces her deepest fear. Everything and everyone she has clung to so tightly could be ripped from her, leaving her completely alone.

Except for one.

  1. Happy Friday! The book I’m featuring on my blog is A Reluctant Melody by Sandra Ardoin. Here, I will share from my current read, Ramee’s Fugitive Cowboy by Elaine Manders. I’m in Chapter 16 and the first line of that chapter is, “Josh backed out of the hay strew barn.” Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

  2. Paula Shreckhise

My first line is from The Pink Bonnet by Liz Tolsma
    “Momma, Momma, watch me.”
    Happy Reading!

  3. Happy Friday!

Today on my blog I am sharing the first couple of lines from Becoming Us by Robin Jones Gunn: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/05/23/first-line-friday-88/. It’s the first book I’ve ever read by this author. So far I like it. I’m just getting into it, so I will share the first line from chapter 2 here.

“I returned to the great room and saw Jennalyn standing next to the kitchen counter.”

I hope you have a really great weekend. Happy reading! 🤗💜📚

  4. Hope you enjoy Vigilant! I’m sharing from A Modest Independence by Mimi Matthews today. Here is the first line from Chapter 10:

“Jenny stood on the deck of the Indus, watching the ancient city of Alexandria come into view.”

    Happy Friday!

Happy Weekend! My first line is from “The Black Veil” by June Belfie:

“Rebecca Gingerich rested her hands on the the deep milk-white sill of the kitchen window and peered out from the clapboard farmhouse she’d been born in nearly twenty-three years ago to the day.”

  6. Kay Garrett

The low, keening wail reverberated from the walls of Nicole Dyer’s apartment as fear skittered through her body.

  7. I’ll be reading this one very soon. I’m looking forward to it!

My first line this week comes from Flight of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse, but I’m also listening to Great Expectations by Charles Dickens in audio book format at the moment, so I’m going to share the first line from Chapter 51:

What purpose I had in view when I was hot on tracing out and proving Estella’s parentage, I cannot say.

    Have a great weekend!

  8. Good first line, it interested me for sure. I haven’t done a first line post in a couple of weeks, but the book I stared today is Libby’s Cuppa Joe. The fist line: A LUMP. AFRAID? MAYBE. A LITTLE. Mostly surprised.

  9. Sorry I’m so late stopping by this week 🙂

I hadn’t heard of this one before you posted about it, but now it’s definitely being added to my TBR shelf.

Have a great rest of your weekend!
