This week the book I’m featuring is:
Amazon | Goodreads
I slipped the two rings off my finger to cradle them in my palm.
OK y’all, I’m INCREDIBLY excited to get to read this book! I just received an early copy but it’s releasing in just a few days on Tuesday so you can get your own hands on a copy soon or you can pre-order now. Last year I read Heidi’s first two books, so I’ve been waiting impatiently to see what she would come up with next. If there is anything I learned from the other two, it’s that Heidi is not afraid to tackle tough topics in her writing, yet she manages it masterfully. Can’t wait to dig into this one!
About the Book:
Two women, three hundred years apart, must face the devastation of all they hold dear…
Suspecting her husband is having an affair, Sarah Rodrigues fights to appear unbroken while attempting to salvage her family. Though distracted by her own troubles, Sarah is summoned to an elderly friend’s deathbed for an unusual request—find a long-lost daughter and relay a centuries-old family story.
Determined not to fail her friend, Sarah pieces together the story of her neighbor’s ancestor, Elizabeth Baker, a young colonist forced into an unwanted betrothal but drawn to a man forbidden by society.
While Sarah’s family teeters on the edge of collapse, her world is further shaken by the interest of a caring doctor and a terrible accident that threatens a life more precious than her own.
Inspired by the unconditional love she uncovers in Elizabeth’s story, Sarah strives to forgive those who’ve wounded her soul. But when light shines on the dark secrets of her neighbor’s past and the full extent of her husband’s sins, will looking to a power greater than herself rekindle lost hope?

The book sounds interesting. On my blog, I’m featuring Hillbrooke, God’s Rewrite by Beverely Joy Roberts. This is such a great series and she’s quite the storyteller. Have a wonderful weekend!
On my blog I am sharing the first couple of lines from Delicate Balance by Brooke St. James: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/04/04/first-line-friday-82/. It’s a really sweet book I highly recommend. Currently, I am reading A Silken Thread by Kim Vogel Sawyer, so I will share the first line from chapter 7.
“‘Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.’ Willie gave a little jolt. The preacher read on, but the second verse of Galatians 6 seemed to bounce off the wood-planked walls and echo in Willie’s mind.”
Hope you have a great weekend. Happy reading!
This sounds like a very somber read. Happy Friday!
My first lines are friom The Artful Match by Jennifer Delamere:
Venezuala, August, 1881
Julia Bernay Stephenson watched as her father carefully stirred honey into his coffee. For years she had thought he was dead, and now, even though it had been a week since she’d found him alive, she still looked at him with wondering eyes.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m sharing from Up from the Sea by Amanda Dykes on my blog today. This is the first line from my current read, In the Shadow of Croft Towers by Abigail Wilson:
“I often wonder what my life would have been like if I had never learned the truth.”
Hope you enjoy it!
The Edge of Mercy is my current read! Today I’m sharing the first lines from What If It’s True? by Charles Martin:
“He is stumbling now. A trail of blood marks His serpentine path on the narrow street out of the city.”
I will be reading Edge of Mercy VERY VERY soon! Hope you enjoy it!!
