first line friday

Happy Friday!

The Book I’m sharing this week is:

Uninvited (Beauties from Ashes Book 2)

Amazon | Goodreads

“Bryce followed her quick stride through the hospital corridor, just close enough to track her swaying ponytail.”

I am currently reading Uninvited which is the second in the series by Beckie Lindsey. (You can see my full review for the first book called Secrets HERE). It’s incredibly important to pay attention to the “trigger warnings” in the beginning of the book because it has the ability to be a very painful read if you are able to relate to any of the characters. Simply put this is The Screwtape Letters for today’s generation of teen girls. You see not only what is happening physically in the characters’ stories, but you see how the demons work together for total destruction. It’s a difficult read but also a page turner as you see not only the influence of the demons, but God drawing them to Himself from the other side.

About the Book:

Every girl has a secret she hopes the light will never find—But the demons already have.

Battles between unseen forces of good and evil have made unlikely friends out of high school juniors Krystal, Mackenzie, Tammi, and Sadie, who share similar secrets from their traumatic pasts.

Will the relationships survive the epic spiritual battles raging around them? Or will the demons keep them chained to their secrets?

Some calls went wrong. Terribly wrong. Deputy Kendal McKade’s gut screamed this was one of those calls.

      • I appreciate the heads up. Sometimes there is no warning and being blindsided is bad for my PTSD. I’m getting better, though.

      • I fully understand and agree. Thankfully the author is very up-front about it and has a “Trigger Warning” page before the book even starts.

      • That is so helpful, there have been severall times that I have been blindsided. It’s really tough sometimes.
        Thank you for your understanding!
        Blessings~💖
