Happy Friday! It’s that time of the week again!
The book I am featuring this week is:
Covenant Child
By: Terri Blackstock
Amazon | Goodreads
“There’s a question that haunts me in the blackest hours of night, when wasted moments crowd my dreams and mock the life I know. The question is this: How could a child born of privilege and promise grow up with nothing?”
This was one of my first Terri Blackstock books and remains one of my favorite books of all-time 🙂
About the Book:
Amanda’s heart broke as she watched them drive her beloved twins away. She resolved to hope . . . and to fight for them to her last breath.
Kara and Lizzie are heiresses to one of the largest fortunes in the country. But when their father dies suddenly, the toddlers are taken from the arms of Amanda, their loving stepmother, and given to relatives who only want the children’s fortune for themselves.
Kara and Lizzie grow up questioning their worth . . . until the day when they learn the truth.
Intensely involving, emotionally charged, and infused with hope, Covenant Child is an inspiring story that challenges us to embrace the life God holds out to us.
About the Author:
Terri Blackstock is a New York Times and USA Today best-seller, with over seven million books sold worldwide. She is the winner of two Carol Awards, a Christian Retailers Choice Award, and a Romantic Times Book Reviews Career Achievement Award, among others. She has had over thirty years of success as a novelist. Terri spent the first twelve years of her life traveling in an Air Force family. She lived in nine states and attended the first four years of school in The Netherlands. Because she was a perpetual “new kid,” her imagination became her closest friend. That, she believes, was the biggest factor in her becoming a novelist. She sold her first novel at the age of twenty-five, and has had a successful career ever since.
In 1994 Terri was writing romance novels under two pseudonyms for publishers such as HarperCollins, Harlequin, Dell and Silhouette, when a spiritual awakening prompted her to switch gears. At the time, she was reading more suspense than romance, and felt drawn to write thrillers about ordinary people in grave danger. Her newly awakened faith wove its way into the tapestry of her suspense novels, offering hope instead of despair. Her goal is to entertain with page-turning plots while challenging her readers. She hopes to remind them that they’re not alone, and that their trials have a purpose.
Terri has appeared on national television programs such as “The 700 Club” and “Home Life,” and has been a guest on numerous radio programs across the country. The story of her personal journey appears in books such as Touched By the Savior by Mike Yorkey, True Stories of Answered Prayer by Mike Nappa, Faces of Faith by John Hanna, and I Saw Him In Your Eyes by Ace Collins.
Now it’s your turn!

Happy Friday! My FLF comes from a book I will be reading soon, Her Fear by Shelley Shepard Gray…….
Until that moment, Sadie Detweiler hadn’t thought mere words could hurt so badly. But as Harlan continued to speak, each word cutting her as deeply as if it were a shard of glass, Sadie felt her heart was bleeding.
Have an awesome weekend and Happy Reading!😎
oo wow don’t think I’ve heard of it! I just looked it up on goodreads though and added to my TBR list. Gripping first line!
Oh my goodness. That book sounds so gripping. And interesting. I love reading about family drama (not experiencing it). Relationship will always be so interesting to me.
My first line:
“I am not sure I will live long enough to finish this account.” – The Man with Two Names by Vincent B. Davis II
The author shares that it’s also a reflection of our relationship with Christ and how Jesus loves us but gives us a choice to love him. Highly recommend it!
Over on my blog I’m sharing the first line from The Weaver’s Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd. Here I’ll share the first line from chapter 30.
“Henry winced as he gripped the newel post and pivoted from the stair’s landing to the next flight of stairs.” — The Weaver’s Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd (first line from chapter 30)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Great first line. I will definitely have to check this book out!
Today on my blog, I am sharing the first line from Chasing the Wind by Paula Scott. Here I will post the first line from the prologue of Romeo and Juliet. It’s the book closest to me right now because I’m currently teaching it to my 9 Honors kiddos.
“Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood make civil hands unclean.”
Have an excellent Friday and a great weekend!
Becca, thanks for sharing this book. I’m adding it to my Goodreads shelf.
Elin Carlson walked into the barn and everything changed. – Until We Reach Home by Lynn Austin

Have a great weekend!

My current first line is from Kathy Herman’s Only By Death – “Liam Berne was about to commit murder – at least according to Arkansas law.”

Have a wonderful weekend!
Happy Friday!
“Stop interrogating me. I’m not going to say anything different,” a panic-stricken voice shrieked after begging for the third time to leave for the hospital. “There was so much blood.”
These lines come from Father Figure by James J Cudney. A suspense and family drama with an intricate plot like none other!
I’m sharing from library books today, since it is National Library Week, so here is the first line from Laura V. Hilton’s Love by the Numbers:
