My First Line:

Three men watched intently as peculiar events occurred, one right after the other, on opposite sides of the globe.

Safely home was the first book that introduced me to the author Randy Alcorn. It’s a powerful story about the depth of faith when faced with persecution. You simply cannot read this book and be left unchanged!

About the Book:
Is this the day I die? Li Quan asks himself this question daily, knowing that he might be killed for practicing his faith. American businessman Ben Fielding has no idea what his brilliant former college roommate is facing in China. He expects his old friend has fulfilled his dream of becoming a university professor. But when they are reunited in China after twenty years, both men are shocked at what they discover about each other. Thrown together in an hour of encroaching darkness, both must make choices that will determine not only the destinies of two men, but two families, two nations, and two worlds.

About the Author:
RANDY ALCORN is an author and the founder and director of Eternal Perspective Ministries (EPM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching principles of God’s Word and assisting the church in ministering to unreached, unfed, unborn, uneducated, unreconciled, and unsupported people around the world. His ministry focus is communicating the strategic importance of using our earthly time, money, possessions, and opportunities to invest in need-meeting ministries that count for eternity. He accomplishes this by analyzing, teaching, and applying biblical truth. Before starting EPM in 1990, Randy served as a pastor for fourteen years. He has a bachelor of theology and a master of arts in biblical studies from Multnomah University and an honorary doctorate from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and has taught on the adjunct faculties of both. A New York Times bestselling author, Randy has written more than fifty books, including Heaven, The Treasure Principle, and the award-winning novel Safely Home. His books have sold more than ten million copies and have been translated into more than seventy languages. Randy has written for many magazines, including EPM’s Eternal Perspectives. He is active on Facebook and Twitter and has been a guest on more than seven hundred radio, television, and online programs. Randy resides in Gresham, Oregon, with his wife, Nanci. They have two married daughters and are the proud grandparents of five grandsons. Randy enjoys time spent with his family, biking, snorkeling, underwater photography, researching, and reading.

  1. I have heard many great things about this book. Thanks for sharing. On my blog I am sharing from A Loyal Heart by Jody Hedlund, but here I will share from a new addition to my TBR pile, The Weaver’s Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd. “Alarm’s menacing sting pricked Kate Dearborn’s consciousness and hurried her steps.” Happy Friday!

  2. Paula Shreckhise

My frist paragraph is from: Life on the Porcelain Edge by C.E. Hilbert

Tessa Tarrington’s life was in the toilet.
    Job? FIRED
    Dad? HEART ATTACK
    Current residence? CHILDHOOD BEDROOM
    Love life? NON-EXISTENT.
Her life was swirling in the bowl, just waiting for the ultimate flush.

It’s humorous but deals with hard issues.

  3. Wow! That definitely sounds like an interesting read. Happy Easter! I’m a day late because of Good Friday commitments yesterday. The book I’m sharing on my blog is The Social Tutor by Sally Britton. I enjoyed this novel. Here, I’m sharing the first line from another one of her books I just finished reading this week called Martha’s Patience. “If you do not stop this instant, I may have to faint.”
