Happy Friday!

The book I’m featuring this week is:

freedoms-light

Amazon | Goodreads

August 2, 1776

“I forbid you to go, Hannah.”

I just finished reading this book 2 days ago and thought it was amazing. You can check out my review HERE. Definitely one I highly recommend!

About the Book:

Hannah Thomas left the South and all that was familiar to marry her beloved John. But the fact that she’s never been quite accepted by his mother and sister and that she doesn’t quite fit the strict Massachusetts Puritan community only becomes more difficult when John is killed in one of the first battles in the war for freedom. Hannah is allowed to continue to serve as lightkeeper for the twin tower lighthouses on the lonely coastline, but it is grueling work for a woman alone.

One of the first shipwrecks washes ashore a handsome captain she thinks is a Tory, but she soon finds out he’s working as a spy for Washington. Much stands in the way of their happiness including the need to protect his secret, pressure from John’s family to marry another, near-constant disapproval from the townspeople, and the appearance of Hannah’s wayward sister. Coupled with the strain of war, Hannah isn’t sure she’ll ever see the light of freedom.

Happy Friday! My first line is from “Rebecca’s Legacy” by Betty Thomason Owens:

“Are you crazy? My father’s going to kill me.”

  2. This one sounds like a great read! On my blog, I’m featuring Karen Witemeyer’s novella, “The Love Knot.” Since I’m still reading it, I will share the first lines in Chapter 7. “Claire pushed away from the paddock fence when she saw Pieter exit the station house. Her heart ached with yearning at the sight of him. She still loved him. Desperately. But she wouldn’t pledge her life to a man until she was certain of him.” I wish you a relaxing fall weekend. Cooler weather has finally arrived in Michigan.

I love Colleen Coble’s books! Thank you for sharing this one!

Happy Friday! My first line is from The Lady of Bolton Hill by Elizabeth Camden.

    PROLOGUE

    Baltimore, Maryland, 1867

“Come on, boy. Your dad needs you.”

  4. Happy Friday!😊

My first lines come from Snowfall on Lighthouse Lane by JoAnn Ross…..

Life, as Aiden Mannion knew firsthand, could be dangerous. Anything could happen. You could be hit by a taxi while sightseeing in Times Square. Run headfirst into a tree while shushing down a diamond run pretending you were Bode Miller.

Have a great weekend and Happy Fall!💕

I love Colleen Coble’s books. This one looks great!
I am reading a non-fiction book this week: Martin Luther by Eric Metaxas.
The first line from Chapter one is: There is no beginning to the story of Martin Luther.
I highly recommend this book! He was an amazing man.

  6. Paula Shreckhise

My first line is from A Secret to Die For by Lisa Harris:

A sharp clatter jerked Grace Callahan out iof the novel she was reading.

    Great suspenseful book!

  7. I saw your review of that one and it sounded quite good. The first line is intriguing.

I have started listening to Sweet Haven by Shirlee McCoy,

    “The dress wouldn’t zip.”

  8. I’m featuring lines from A.K. MacBride’s upcoming release Shattered on my blog.

Here, I’m sharing lines from Rachael Brownell’s Chasing Fate. It’s my quirky blind date with a book this month.

”What do you mean, you quit your job?”

    Happy Reading!

  9. This does sound like a good story! I’m sharing from a Christmas novella on my blog. Here I’ll share from Belle: An Amish Retelling of Beauty and the Beast by Sarah Price:

“Sunflowers always made Belle happy. Very happy.”

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Because telling a headstrong woman not to do something is never a good idea …

I’ve been on a romantic suspense reading kick recently, so my first line is from Tell Her No Lies by Kelly Irvin. It’s an unusual first line, but the novel definitely ticks all the romantic suspense boxes.

    Have a great weekend 🙂
