Amazon | Goodreads

“Tears streamed down Sara Murray’s face as she sat on the living-room floor, going through another box of her mother’s things.”

I was lucky enough to read an advanced copy of this book, but it will be releasing in just a few short weeks on August 7! My review will be posted sometime closer to the release. I really enjoyed it though, and would highly recommend you add it to your TBR list if you haven’t already 🙂

About the Book:
A Brand-New Series from New York Times Bestselling Author Wanda E. Brunstetter.
What happens when making an elderly Amish couple very happy means going along with a lie that gets bigger by the day?

Michelle Taylor is not who her new family in Lancaster County believes her to be. The Lapps were looking for their long-lost granddaughter when they met Michelle and she assumed the identity of Sara Murray. Once homeless and hopeless, Michelle has come to love her new Amish friends and even considers the idea of romance among them.

Finding an old blue jar in the barn that is filled with slips of paper containing thoughts, quotes, and prayers by an unknown author becomes a boost to Michelle’s budding faith— but also convicting. How can she tell the truth without hurting the ones she has truly come to love?

  1. I shared the first line of Jo Piazza’s upcoming novel “Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win” on my blog. I’m still currently reading it so, I’ll share the first line of chapter 19 instead.

“Ted Slaughter made a grand entrance onto the debate stage. When Chalotte went to shake his hand, he dropped to the floor to begin the first of thirty-seven push-ups.”

Happy reading! Hope you have a restful weekend! 💗

  2. Secrets are a great place to start a novel full of conflict!

I’m sharing from Open Circle by Stacy Monson on my blog. But today I’m sharing the first line from Then There Was You by Kara Issac, which has just won the 2018 RITA Award for Romance with Religious or Spiritual Elements from Romance Writers of America.

    Congratulations, Kara!

    Here’s the first line:

Paige McAlister didn’t think think it was possible, but there was something worse than being single and thirty at your nineteen-year-old sister’s wedding.

  3. lelandandbecky

Happy Friday! My first line is from Susan May Warren’s book “The Heat is On”.

“Skye Doyle was going to get everyone killed.”

  4. carylkane

    Happy Friday!

My first line comes from Dreaming Spies by Laurie R. King….

    “It’s a rock, Holmes”

  5. Ooh, that sounds really good. My first line is from The Lonely Polygamist by Brady Udall. “To put it as simply as possible: this is the story of a polygamist who has an affair.”

  6. Happy Friday!

Today on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from Woman of Clay by Linda Caddick. I’m currently on chapter 11, so I will share the first line from this chapter.

“Spring burst almost overnight in a full palette of brilliant colour, transforming the world into one which barely resembled the one Shana had inhabited just a week or two before.”

Hope you have an excellent weekend filled with great reading time! 😁❤📚

  7. Happy Friday!😎 I can’t wait to read The Hope Jar!😀

My First Lines come from If Ever I Would Leave You by Susan May Warren…….

“Watching you die is the last thing I want to do on a Saturday morning.” Sierra said it in a low mutter, nearly under her breath, but Ian heard it anyway, a slash across his chest, right between the ribs.

Have a great weekend, stay cool, and Happy Reading!😊💖📚

  8. Ellie

I really want to read this book! I hope you have a great weekend with lots of good reading time!

  9. That definitely sounds interesting. Would you believe I’ve never read one Amish novel yet? Maybe one day. On my blog, I’m featuring The Purchased Bride by Kit Morgan. Here, I will share the first line from Chapter Four of that novel. “Herman Mayer wasn’t the brightest or the nicest man around, and he knew it.” Wishing you a great Friday!

  10. Caitlin H

    Happy Friday 🙂

The Hope Jar sounds interesting and the opening line hooks me as a reader. I haven’t gotten into reading Amish fiction, so this may be one of those books that I read at a later date.

This week’s FLF is Jen Turano’s A Match of Wits. I’m also reading Roseanna M. White’s Circle of Spies from the Culper Ring Series:

“Marietta Hughes was the worst widow in the history of mourning.”

Hope you have a nice weekend 🙂

    • People have their favorite genres. I really like historical fiction but Amish fits that for me as far as their way-of-life goes. There’s plenty out there that you can just read what you like 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  11. I can’t wait to read my copy soon!

I’m sharing about “Trials of the Mighty” by Kenyon T. Henry on the blog today, but I’m currently reading “Unafraid” by Carey Scott. I’ll share the first line of chapter two.

Authentic living. What does it even mean?

Have a great weekend and happy reading!

  12. Oo, I love a good Amish story – and this one sounds veeery interesting!
Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from The Auschwitz Escape, but here I’ll share the first line from another book on my TBR pile, Anne Graham Lotz’ The Daniel Prayer: “The air was electric. People were shouting, crying, pleading with God.”
    Have a blessed weekend! 🙂

  13. I’m sharing from A Rebel Heart by Beth White on my blog today, here’s the first line of Chapter 2:

“Spyglass pressed to his good eye, Daughtry crouched behind a tree at the edge of the creek running through Buckner’s Ravine.”

Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading!

  14. Great choice Becca. i have this one to read next week.

I shared a thriller on my blog, but I am also listening to an Amish Romance,
A Place at our Table by Amy Clipston

A long, shrill tone screamed through the loud speaker, jarring Jamie Riehl from sleep.
