About the Book:

Madysen Powell has always been a forgiving person, but when her supposedly dead father shows up in Nome, Alaska, her gift for forgiveness is tested. With the recent loss of her mother, she searches for answers, leaning on Granny Beaufort, a neighbor in town, who listens with a kind heart. Still, Madysen is restless and dreams of performing her music around the world. The arrival of a traveling show could prove just the chance she needs, and the manager promises more than she ever dreamed.

Daniel Beaufort arrives in Nome, searching for his own answers after the gold rush leaves him with only empty pockets. Still angry about the death of his loved ones, he longs to start fresh but doesn’t have high hopes until he ends up helping at the Powell dairy making cheese. Drawn to the beautiful redhead with big dreams, will deceptions from the past tear apart any hope for the future?

My Review:

The Powell sisters are back for the second installment of the Treasures of Nome series! Endless Mercy is Madysen’s story, but her sisters remain as strong characters as well. I loved diving back into their world to catch up and see what they were all up to.

From Havyn’s chickens to Madysen’s sheep, there’s never a dull moment on the farm. I won’t spoil any of the details here, but oh boy does one little sheep in particular cause a scene! I don’t think I can ever look at a sheep the same way again haha.

One thing that I absolutely love about this story was how Daniel was treated by those around him. Faith wasn’t forced upon him and no one made him feel like an outcast because he was unsure of where he stood. They continued to worship the Lord and read His word together, but they didn’t force Daniel to be a participant. They prayed for him but allowed the Lord to do the work in his heart that needed to be done. How easy is it for us to think if we just share enough of God’s Word with others and try to convince them that they need Jesus, that their eyes will be opened and all will be well? Daniel’s side of this story was a reminder that the only one with the ability to change hearts is God. We can lead others to Him, and should be sharing about Him, but we can’t force it. We can help plant the seed, but it’s God who does the watering.

I also loved the growth that Madysen experienced throughout her journey in this one. Although she thought she had good intentions for the goals she had for herself, she had to learn the difference between following her own ambitions and following the Lord’s direction. She had some pretty tough emotions that she had to work through, but learning how to do so was part of her journey as well. And of course, her little sheep friends (and Havyn’s chickens) helped add a few chuckles along the way.

Although I read the ebook of Forever Hidden when that one released, I ended up listening to the audio version of it again before reading this one. I personally wouldn’t recommend reading this series out of order. Although it’s possible to read this as a standalone, there’s too much backstory that I think you would be missing out on if you skipped Forever Hidden.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read and already can’t wait for the next one, when we get to focus on Whitney’s story. Even though there are parts of each character that I can see myself in, I think I can be like Whitney the most. So I’m anxious to see her get her happy ending too.
