To say that I was excited for my weekend getaway to Christian Fiction Readers Retreat (CFRR) 2019 would be an incredible understatement! My hubby and I were able to work it out to stay a few extra days so that we could also do some sightseeing in nearby Washington, DC. We arrived Thursday afternoon where it worked out to help Annie and Carole to unload their cars of goodies into the hotel before we went on a walking adventure to explore the area and find some food.
Shortly after, my friends Suzie (Remembrancy) and Annie (Radiant Light) arrived at the hotel and the bookish fun officially began! We had an awesome time chatting and hanging out with each other. Although it would have been fun to have a late night, we were all quite tired from our trips (and I was still working on getting my sleep to flip from the night-shift).
Friday morning came quickly and Nate and I jumped into our car to head to the Metro that would take us right into the heart of DC. Even though it was cold and raining for most of the day, we still had a great time walking the National Mall and visiting some of the Smithsonian Museums. I shared a few more on Facebook but here are few pictures from our adventures:
When I was in high school I had a friend named Claire (Chaeryung) who was an exchange student from South Korea. We were close friends during the time she was here and I’ve certainly missed her! A few years ago we were able to reconnect on social media and she told me that she had returned to the states and was living in DC. We were able to plan it out to meet up on Friday. We had such a fun time and I was very grateful for the chance to catch up on life!
When we arrived back at the hotel that night I was able to pop-in to see my friend Jessica (A Baker’s Perspective) for a bit before bed. (Many ladies were able to attend the Meet & Greet with the authors but I didn’t have a ticket for it). It was almost time for CFRR!
~Stay tuned for my next post which will highlight the actual event!~
Great photos! 🙂
Great pictures! Looks like you had a great time sight seeing. 😊
Thanks, yes we did! I haven’t been to DC since I was a tiny tot and don’t remember anything (other than being scared of a stranger on the metro 🤣), so it was awesome to explore!
I’m so glad we had time to chat and hang out! Love you friend 😊
Me too!! Hope we can hang out again soon! ❤️
