My Review
Whew, I always seem to need to take a breather to get my heart back down into my chest after finishing a Ronie Kendig read, and this one wasn’t any different. This isn’t the easiest series to read as it deals with a monster of a topic human and sex trafficking, but the notes and extras at the end are very clear in that the author hopes to use this series to call attention to the beast and garner support for those who are actively fighting the battle. Because while these stories themselves may be fiction, human trafficking and the horrors captives face are not. As I believe I stated in my review for the last book in this series, I wasn’t a fan of the “almost cursing” that was found throughout, although I think it might have been slightly toned down in this one. But it was definitely still present. The author does not shy away from some more difficult content (see warning below), but it makes sense given the topic. In order to remain authentic and shed light on how dark the reality is, not everyone can remain untouchable. But that’s also what grips our hearts and fuels the anger to do more. If we can do that for a fictional character, how much more for someone who is real?
An action-packed, edge-of-your-seat, page-turner series that will make your blood boil and your heart race, this is a series you won’t want to miss.
