My Review:

After hearing wonderful things about Katie Powner’s debut novel I knew this was one I wanted to give a try. The premise certainly had me intrigued. I was quickly sucked into the story and it was evident to see the family drama bleeding out into other areas of the character’s lives. Although I assumed pretty much from the beginning what type of secret it was that June had been covering up, I still found myself turning the pages wanting to know more about her story. It was sad to see how tormented her mind was not only from the effects from Alzheimer’s but from the painful secrets returning to the front of her mind. Although I had no problem following any of the characters in this story, I think my heart clung the closest to June. My only complaint in the read is that the end was too rushed and didn’t fit the level of depth I would have expected from such a deep, emotional storyline. It was still a good novel overall though, and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
