About the Book:

Discover a treasure worth more than all the pirate gold in the world

Anne Norris moved to Savannah, Georgia, for a fresh start. Now her pirate-tour business is flagging and paying the rent requires more than wishful thinking. When she discovers evidence of a shipwreck off the coast of Tybee Island, she knows it could be just the boon she needs to stay afloat. She takes her findings to local museum director Carter Hale for confirmation, but things do not go as planned.

Carter is fascinated with the wreck, the discovery of which could open the door to his dream job at a prestigious museum. But convincing Anne to help him fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle is no easy task. And working with Carter means that Anne will have to do the one thing she swore she’d never do again: trust a man.

My Review:

Once again Liz Johnson has penned a wonderful novel! This was an easy book to pick up and not easy to put down until I’d finished the very last page. There were so many elements that held me captive and wanting to know more.

What’s better than the intrigue of pirates and treasure to help one learn to live again? Fairly early in the book the reader discovers the real reasons behind Anne’s brokenness. She’d spent the last several years crippled by feelings of guilt over something that really wasn’t her fault to begin with, yet she’d internalized it so deeply that it was if it was her very identity. Seeing her start to heal and trust again was truly a journey in itself and I easily found myself cheering for her.

I really love that the romance didn’t feel forced in this book. Instead the relationship developed as a friendship until they realized that maybe there was something more there. It was a relationship I could appreciate and believe.

Even though this is the second book in a series it’s a standalone story. I’ve read and enjoyed both of them so I can recommend both of them, but it’s not a requirement to read the first before this one. Highly recommend!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.
