About the Book:
Burning debris littering the ground . . . smoke pluming in the acrid air . . . this is just the beginning if he fails.

Seven years ago, operative Luke Gallagher vanished to become part of an elite team set on capturing a deadly terrorist. When Luke returns to face those he left behind, their help becomes his only hope of stopping his target’s latest threat of an attack that would shake America to its core.

Private investigator Kate Maxwell never stopped loving or looking for Luke after he disappeared. But she also never imagined he left her or his life by choice. Now he’s back, and together they must unravel a twisting thread of secrets, lies, and betrayal, all while on the brink of a biological disaster.

Will they and their love survive, or will Luke and Kate become the terrorist’s next mark?

Review:
Wow! What an intense conclusion to the series! Now back in the picture, the fourth and final book centers on Luke and Kate as they rediscover their relationship with each other after over seven years of separation. It’s a pretty emotional ride, as Kate struggles with how much of her heart she feels safe to give away after being abandoned for so long. Luke didn’t intend to return home as he has, but after seeing how Kate still loves him, he feels guilty for leaving her behind and hope to return to his old life and leave his spy days behind him.

As with the other books in the Chesapeake Valor series, Dead Drift was action-packed from cover to cover. Due to a few clues revealed in Blind Spot (#3), Griff and Parker are back to hoping they will be able to catch Jenna’s killer. Declan and Luke are hot on the heels of Ebeid, seeking desperately to catch him before he is able to release a biological weapon of mass destruction. With twist and turns, and a sky-high intensity for both cases, this isn’t a book you will willingly want to put down until you’ve finished!

If I was to choose a favorite book in this series, I would have to claim this one as it. It did however take a lot of background to get to this book, so I still highly recommend reading the other books first. I don’t believe this could be easily read as a stand-alone. As the conclusion unfolds, all off the missing pieces from the first books in the series start to fall in place.

There was so much that happened in this book, but most of what hit me the most would spoilers if I shared, so you’ll just have to read it for yourself 😉 I really enjoyed this series, and it’s one that thoroughly held my interest. This book particularly was one that I didn’t want to put down. Having more of the backstory, I felt more emotionally attached to the intense scenes and conflict. This is definitely a series I would recommend to lovers of this genre.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book from JustRead Publicity Tours and the author in hopes of an honest review. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.

Rating: 5-Stars-300x57

Age Appropriateness/Content Awareness: Although I’ve stated that I wouldn’t recommend this series to younger readers due to some of the content and violence, this one particularly had quite a bit of content that could be difficult for some readers. Although there isn’t too much detail in the first books, Jenna’s killer raped and tortured her. This book contains more details as they uncover clues to her death and discover other girls who have been murdered in the same way. This book also contains multiple murders which include some stronger details. This was a great series for adults, but I personally wouldn’t recommend it to kids.

    1. I have actually read 2 books since this… I was trying to save this one for the release day b/c of a blitz tour. When I got it in the mail I kind of panicked b/c I hadn’t read the others yet and realized it couldn’t be stand-alone. So yeah, I read the series pretty fast lol
