Thanks for joining me!
As many who know me would say, I am slightly addicted to books. I love to read and generally speaking will read almost anything (with exception to anything super scary, graphic, and/or paranormal). I have enjoyed reading since I was a little kid. My parents monitored (not complaining) what I read but I mostly only remember “romance” being forbidden. My parents were not readers, and my grandma loved her romance, so finding books to read when I actually enjoyed it sometimes proved difficult back in the day of dial-up and limited internet (Oh wow, I think I just aged myself)!
As an adult I still enjoy to read and am constantly on the hunt for a good read. Speaking of good read, last year I joined a sight called goodreads.com and have admittedly since become addicted. I honestly recommend it to anyone who loves to read. Unfortunately it’s not a Christian site so even though you can find Christian books, you have to have a little more discernment and they are often not books that get highlighted. As long as a book is “clean” though, a novel doesn’t necessarily have to be by a believer for me to want to read it–but finding clean books isn’t always easy. I enjoy books with a lot of suspense but don’t like them to have a lot of language or graphic scenes. I really enjoy historical fiction, and unfortunately without actually reading the books myself I can’t always know what I’m getting into. Things like language, graphic and/or sexual scenes, etc. are not always easily found on a review.
As someone who is around kids and teens a lot, and someone who is known to “talk books” with them, I wanted to create a page where I could talk about and review books from a Christian perspective. That doesn’t necessarily mean all the books will be by Christian authors, but my hope is that I can find good, clean books to share for others to check out. With that there may be some that I find are not good options to read, and I will share that info as well. My goal is to also add an “age appropriate” section to my reviews so parents can see if I think a book is okay for kids/tweens/teens. I plan to not only review fiction/nonfiction books, but also Bible Study books. Unfortunately those also can be hard to find for certain age groups to enjoy (in terms of topics being geared towards them and/or relevant).
I am more than happy to take requests at any time and I’m willing to answer questions if anyone needs input on a specific book and/or book suggestion. Feel free to comment on any of my reviews to add your own personal thoughts. I am not the ultimate truth, and can only share my own personal opinions. I want this page to be a help and encouragement to others.
Welcome and enjoy the site!
